“The driving principle behind CEA-Retired is to provide members with an organization composed of retired educators who work with CEA to improve retirement, pension and health benefits for all retirees."
By continuing to be involved, CEA-Retired enables its members to continue a commitment to improve public education working with active members. It actively encourages its members’ participation in the election process both by encouraging each member to actively participate in the voting process and by becoming involved in seeing that political candidates are elected that support the CEA and NEA legislative agendas. See The NEA Fund for Children and Public Education.
At the same time, it offers its members the social opportunities to stay connected through social opportunities with friends and new friends and, through our community service initiative, to discover new opportunities that will benefit both state-wide and in their own communities. We particularly hope that our members will consider the Connecticut Education Foundation.
The purpose of The Henry Barnard Memorial Fund (HBMF) is to help needy teachers who have served but are no longer active in the teaching profession. This private fund is exclusively charitable. Its main goal is to help teachers stay independent—with an adequate standard of living—and maintain pride in themselves and in their profession. The Fund preserves the dignity of teachers as human beings by offering financial and other assistance in a private, professional manner. Money is obtained through the generosity of the many active and retired teachers in Connecticut. See www.barnardfund.org.
