Medicare Supplemental Health Plan Premium Change Announcement for 2017

At the September 7th meeting of the Connecticut Teachers' Retirement Board, a presentation took place concerning "consideration and approval of premium changes to become effective January 1, 2017 for the health benefit programs offered by the TRB as recommended and presented by the Board's Benefit Consultant."

After the presentation and discussion, the new rate for the Medicare Supplement plan offered by Connecticut Teachers' Retirement System (CTRS) which includes hospital, medical, major medical and prescription drugs costs effective January 1, 2017 will be $141.00 per month, a reduction from the $148.00 currently in effect for the full package plan that includes dental, vision and hearing.

Note: Older retirees are not required to buy the full package. A Medicate Supplement plan with prescriptions only will be $92 per month and one with prescriptions and deltal (no vision and hearing) will be $136 per month.
