Since it began in 1998, more than 10,000 Connecticut public school students have benefited from the Holiday Bear program, sponsored by CEA's charitable organization, the Connecticut Education Foundation (CEF). Last year alone, teachers identified more than 1,300 children who were in need and those children received help from sponsors.

"You can make a difference in the lives of hundreds of public school children throughout Connecticut this holiday season by participating in the program," said CEA Vice President Jeff Leake, who serves as CEF president. "The Holiday Bear Project brings out the true spirit of the holidays, but we can't do it alone. We need sponsors to help students and their families."

Teachers and student organizations at public schools across the state get involved by sponsoring children and buying gifts, teaching students about philanthropy and preparing them to be giving adults.
