Powerful Video: How Teachers' Lives Changed Overnight
And why unions are more important than ever
A lawsuit making its way through the U.S. Supreme Court, Janus v. AFSCME, is designed to weaken unions and erode many of their hard-won benefits and rights, including those that teachers have enjoyed for decades. The case is expected to be heard next month, and a decision rendered by June 2018.
No matter what the outcome, unions can remain strong—as long as teachers are committed to remaining active and engaged.
Share this powerful video with teachers in your building to show why union membership is more important than ever. Featuring educators who have taught in Wisconsin, it's a poignant reminder of how attacks on collective bargaining can drastically change teachers' working conditions and pay.
Talk to your Connecticut colleagues about the importance of union membership. When teachers stand together, we stand stronger.
More information on the Janus case will be shared at the next round of County Forums, scheduled in January.
