Groton Teachers Urge Legislators to Reject Budget

Make your concerns heard too—join CEA's TAG Team

Hundreds of teachers in Groton gathered after school to write postcards to their legislators asking them not to approve Governor Malloy's proposed budget, which cuts millions of dollars in state aid to Groton public schools and forces towns to cover one-third the cost of their teachers' retirement.

Make sure your elected officials protect your schools, your students, your profession, and the retirement savings you've worked so hard for. Stay on top of legislative developments by joining CEA's Teacher Advocate Grassroots (TAG) Team. Reach out to your elected officials about specific bills that could impact schools and classrooms. Though legislators represent diverse backgrounds and experiences, most have never taught, and many have not set foot in a classroom in decades. As a TAG Team member, you can help lawmakers understand some of the everyday challenges you face and how their decisions impact your students and profession.
