CCJEF Ruling Fails Connecticut Students

Misses the mark on school funding

The State Supreme Court's recent ruling in Connecticut Coalition for Justice in Education Funding (CCJEF) v. Rell delivered a mixed verdict for schools.

While it wisely rejected the lower court's attempt to create burdensome schemes for testing, teacher evaluation, and education policy, it ruled that state funding for Connecticut schools is adequate—a decision that has shocked teachers, families in high-poverty communities, and advocates of public education. CCJEF has filed a request for the court to reconsider the case.
