NEA's Annual Human and Civil Rights Awards
Nominate your colleagues for the NEA's annual Human and Civil Rights Awards!
NEA needs your help in identifying exemplary individuals, organizations, and affiliates to recognize at the annual Human and Civil Rights Dinner. Take a minute or two to nominate an exemplary teacher who affirms, through his or her actions, the dignity and worth of every human being?
Nomination applications and guidelines for the 2015 awards are available online at www.nea.org/hcrawards. All applications must be postmarked by December 10, 2014. The awards will be presented at a gala dinner in Orlando, FL, on July 2, 2015.
You may nominate in one or more of the twelve award categories listed below:
- Applegate-Dorros Peace and International Award
- Carter G. Woodson Memorial Award
- Cesar Chavez Accion y Compromiso HCR Award
- Ellison S. Onizuka Memorial Award
- H. Councill Trenholm Memorial Award (Non-Black)
- George I. Sanchez Memorial Award
- Leo Reano Memorial Award
- Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Award
- Mary Hatwood Futrell Award
- Reg Weaver Human and Civil Rights Award
- Rosena J. Willis Memorial Award (State Affiliate)
- Virginia Uribe Award for Creative Leadership in Human Rights
Connecticut educator and NEA Director John Horrigan serves as a member of the NEA Human and Civil Rights Committee.
