While Roberge-Wentzell serves as interim commissioner, Academic Division Director Ellen Cohn will fill in as chief academic officer.

CEA President Sheila Cohen said, "We look forward to working with Dr. Dianna Roberge-Wentzell as the interim state education commissioner. CEA has worked with Dianna on a variety of issues and committees. She has extensive public education experience and she understands the importance of a strong public education system—one that requires the resources students and teachers need to succeed."

Cohen added, "We eagerly await the appointment of a permanent commissioner with a rich and robust background in public education, so we can get down to the long-term collaboration, planning, and teacher leadership that is vital to serving the needs of all Connecticut public school students."
