Policymakers Have Plans to Change the Teacher Pension SystemAct Now: Call your state legislators
May 25, 2017
The governor and some state legislators are considering big changes to the teacher retirement system.
CEA Retirement Specialist Robyn Kaplan-Cho explains some proposals currently being considered and how you can join the fight against these plans.
Call your legislators and urge them to
- Reject any plans that would shift the cost of teacher pensions onto cities and towns. The shift would increase property taxes, reduce funds for education, and cost teaching jobs.
- Protect teacher pensions and keep the existing teacher pension plan.
- Oppose any increased teacher pension payment.
