Protect Teachers' Rights
Advocate against any proposals that eliminate, restrict, or interfere with teachers' rights to negotiate salaries, health insurance, working conditions, and other benefits.
Protect teachers' rights and oppose any efforts that limit or weaken collective bargaining
- Oppose efforts to limit the scope of bargaining that would restrict what we can negotiate for in our contracts, specifically bargaining for wages, benefits, and working conditions.
- Oppose any cap on wage increases
- Oppose legislation that would restrict or take away the right to bargain for health insurance benefits
- Oppose any increase to the threshold for a municipality's ability to pay (amount of money a town can set aside so it is not included in the towns ability to pay for raises, health insurance or other labor costs)
The union advantage: Strong unions vs. weak unions.
Teachers across Connecticut are coming out to their local CEA County Forums to stay on top of new threats to their profession and public education—and to learn how they can protect themselves.
