CEA has developed the following 3 sessions to help Year 2 teachers prepare for the BEST portfolio assessment. A session guide* will lead you or a group of new teachers through each session, which generally lasts from 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
*BEST Advocate, mentor, or experienced teacher. Talk to your mentor about being a session guide! We recommend that sessions 10-12 be held in sequential order.

Become familiar with the overall contents of the portfolio handbook, and in what sections you will find information needed to complete your portfolio. | | 11. | Know the Guiding Questions
Gain a deeper understanding of the Guiding Questions for your content area, and an awareness of the educational jargon you must clearly understand when you work on your portfolio. | | 12. | The Portfolio Tasks
Become familiar with the tasks required in each section of the portfolio, when these can / should be done, and what new teachers need to focus on for each task. |
