BEST Organizing Sessions
Print Friendly Version       Email to a Friend

CEA has developed the following 3 sessions to help Year 2 teachers prepare for the BEST portfolio assessment. A session guide* will lead you or a group of new teachers through each session, which generally lasts from 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

*BEST Advocate, mentor, or experienced teacher. Talk to your mentor about being a session guide!

We recommend that sessions 10-12 be held in sequential order.

10.

The Portfolio Handbook
Become familiar with the overall contents of the portfolio handbook, and in what sections you will find information needed to complete your portfolio.

11.

Know the Guiding Questions
Gain a deeper understanding of the Guiding Questions for your content area, and an awareness of the educational jargon you must clearly understand when you work on your portfolio.

12.

The Portfolio Tasks
Become familiar with the tasks required in each section of the portfolio, when these can / should be done, and what new teachers need to focus on for each task.

You can do these sessions as self-study, but it's much more helpful to do them with other new teachers.

If you have questions or comments about the sessions, please email Linette Branham at linetteb@cea.org. We want to provide you with the best portfolio assessment support possible!
