All educators who hold a professional educator certificate must earn 9 continuing education units (CEUs) during the 5-year validity period of the certificate in order to renew it. One CEU is equal to 10 hours of instructional time. CEUs may be earned in a variety of ways, whether through one’s school district, another approved CEU provider, or through taking coursework at an accredited college or university.
