Victory for New Teachers: TEAM Funding Restored

After funding for TEAM—the Teacher Education And Mentoring program—was unexpectedly wiped out in the state budget that passed last fall, new teachers were in limbo and unsure about how to proceed. CEA advised teachers who were midway through TEAM to create backups of reflection papers and materials stored on the TEAM database. We also lobbied hard throughout the legislative session to have TEAM funding restored.

CEA staff and members testified at State Board of Education meetings and before lawmakers, asking for the state to continue investing in our newest educators—and our efforts paid off!

The budget now puts back critical funding for Connecticut's nationally recognized TEAM program, which provides beginning teachers with trained mentors to guide them through individualized growth plans based on their specific needs.
